About Individual Therapy in Addiction and Mental Health Treatment

Individual therapy is a private, one-on-one psychotherapy approach that is often used in mental health and addiction treatment programs.

Individual therapy aims to offer a supportive, judgment-free environment where you can discover the underlying causes of your struggles. Your therapist can also help you develop coping strategies and work toward personal mental health goals.

Often referred to as talking therapy, there are various evidence-based approaches to individual therapy.

These approaches include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Person-centered experiential therapy (PCET)
  • Interpersonal therapy (IPT)
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)

Different types of therapy work for different people. At Summit at Harmony Oaks, we tailor our individual therapy programs to your unique needs.

Our Mental Health and Addiction Programs That Feature  Individual Therapy

Summit at Harmony Oaks incorporates individual therapy as a core part of all our mental health and substance abuse treatment programs. We offer residential and outpatient treatment options to fit your schedule and the needs of your condition.

Residential Treatment

Our residential treatment program is a fully inpatient program where you live on-site at our treatment center and participate in a structured daily schedule.

Residential treatment is ideal for anyone who needs intensive, 24/7 support. Individual therapy is a foundational component of this treatment program, helping you address personal issues, set recovery goals, and build the skills for sustainable recovery.

Outpatient Treatment

We offer two flexible outpatient treatment options for addiction and mental health that feature individual therapy. These programs are ideal for those who have completed residential care but aren’t ready to transition back to daily life without support.

Our outpatient treatment options include:

  • Intensive outpatient programs: Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) involves 3-5 weekly structured care sessions. These sessions typically last a few hours and can include treatments like individual therapy, support groups, and more. Our IOP is ideal for those who want to maintain their daily routines but still receive high-level support.
  • Partial hospitalization programs: Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) involves intensive, structured daily care. Patients return home or to one of our nearby recovery residences at night. The day-long treatment sessions may involve individual therapy, group therapy, skill-building, family therapy, and other therapeutic approaches. PHPs are a bridge between 24/7 residential care and the looser guidelines of IOPs.

If you’re unsure which program is right for you, our friendly team at Summit at Harmony Oaks can help. We’ll explore your options and find the best treatment program for your condition.
