Caring for your mental health is essential to living a balanced and fulfilling life.
When mental health issues come up, they can affect your relationships, work, and overall well-being, making it hard to enjoy your life. But, with the right treatment, you can learn how to manage symptoms, find relief, and feel more in control.
At Summit at Harmony Oaks, we’re here to support your mental healthcare needs through compassionate care and evidence-based treatment services.
About Mental Health Treatment
Mental health treatment helps you better understand your life experiences, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be contributing to your condition. This way, you can improve your well-being and quality of life with the help of skilled therapists or psychiatrists and therapies that are proven to help.
Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, or another mental illness, treatment can help you manage symptoms and build skills to cope with life’s stressors. Our programs are personalized to meet your specific needs while helping you overcome challenges that support your life.

Mental Health Conditions Treated at Summit at Harmony Oaks
We treat a range of mental health conditions, each with its unique challenges. Some of the conditions we help with include:
Anxiety disorders involve intense, ongoing feelings of worry, fear, or nervousness that can make it hard to function in daily life.
Types of anxiety disorders include:
- Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
- Social anxiety disorder
- Panic disorder
- Phobias
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Our team at Harmony Oaks works with you to identify triggers, manage obsessions, and develop coping strategies to reduce anxiety’s impact on your life. Through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and relaxation techniques, we help you reframe anxious thoughts and promote mental wellness.
Depression, also called major depressive disorder, is a mental illness that affects motivation, energy, and overall mood. Symptoms include feelings of sadness, hopelessness, changes in sleep and appetite, and sometimes suicidal thoughts.
Our approach to treating depression combines individual therapy, medication, and holistic therapies to help you rebuild purpose and enjoyment. We focus on uncovering the causes of your depression and giving you tools to manage symptoms and prevent relapse.
Mood disorders, including affective disorder, bipolar disorder, and depressive disorders, cause extreme emotional swings that can make it difficult to maintain a stable mood. Bipolar disorder, for example, involves cycles of mania (highs) and depression (lows), disrupting daily life and relationships.
We offer mood stabilization treatment through therapy and medication, helping you balance emotions, build resilience, and manage symptoms to enhance your quality of life.
Personality disorders affect how you relate to others and how you view yourself, which can impact your relationships and social interactions. Examples include borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, and antisocial personality disorder.
Our personalized treatment plans focus on understanding behavior patterns and building healthier coping strategies. Using therapies like CBT, we help you develop emotional regulation skills, boost self-esteem, and improve your treasured relationships.
Trauma can result from experiencing or witnessing distressing events, with effects that linger long after the event. Trauma can lead to anxiety, depression, and difficulty feeling safe.
We use trauma-informed care to create a supportive environment where you can process these tough experiences. Specialized therapies, like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), help you work through trauma without feeling overwhelmed, allowing you to regain a sense of security and well-being.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health disorder that can develop after exposure to traumatic events like accidents, natural disasters, or personal assault.
People with PTSD may have flashbacks, nightmares, or severe anxiety that affects their ability to function.
Our PTSD program uses cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and more to help you manage triggers and reduce symptoms. We focus on building coping skills and creating a sense of safety, so you can regain control and move forward.

What Causes Mental Health Disorders?
Mental health disorders can have various causes, often a combination of genetics, brain chemistry, and your environment. For instance:
- Genetics: A family history of mental illness, such as schizophrenia or depression, can increase the likelihood of developing similar conditions.
- Brain chemistry: Neurotransmitter imbalances, like those in serotonin and dopamine, affect mood and behavior. These are often linked to conditions like anxiety and depressive disorders.
- Environmental stressors: Exposure to traumatic events, neglect, or abuse can increase the risk of developing mental health disorders later in life.
Risk Factors for Mental Illness
Certain factors can make mental health conditions more likely, though they don’t always lead to a diagnosis. Risk factors include:
- Chronic physical or mental health conditions
- Past trauma or exposure to a traumatic event
- Lack of support from caregivers, family members, or mental health providers
- Family history of mental illness
- Adverse childhood experiences, such as abuse or neglect
Understanding these risk factors can help us create a more effective, personalized treatment plan.

Mental Health Treatment Programs at Summit at Harmony Oaks

Summit at Harmony Oaks offers different programs to support you in managing mental health challenges. Each program is designed to provide the right level of care, whether you need full-time support or a more flexible schedule.
Our residential treatment program provides a structured, safe environment where you can focus fully on your recovery. In this program, you live on-site, giving you access to 24/7 support from our mental health and medical care team.
Residential treatment can include individual therapy, group therapy, and various holistic therapies like mindfulness and art therapy. This level of care is ideal if you need intensive support to manage your symptoms without distractions from daily life.
Our outpatient treatment program is best for those who need regular support but want the flexibility to live at home. We offer two types of outpatient care:
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): In IOP, you attend therapy sessions a few times a week, focusing on managing symptoms and building coping skills. This program lets you maintain work or family responsibilities while receiving strong support.
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): PHP provides more structured support, with therapy and treatment sessions five days a week for several hours each day. This program offers more support than IOP but still allows you to return home each evening. It’s a good option if you need more intensive help but don’t require residential care.
Both IOP and PHP allow you to get the mental health care you need while balancing your daily routines.
Our dual diagnosis program is for people dealing with both a mental health condition and a substance use disorder. Treating both issues together is important to help understand the deeper reasons why you may be abusing drugs, like to cope with a mental health condition or traumatic event.
In dual diagnosis treatment, we combine mental health therapies with substance abuse support like detoxification to help you manage withdrawal symptoms while developing coping skills. Treating both conditions gives you the best chance for a full recovery.
