Addiction Recovery Programs at Harmony Oaks

When someone comes to Summit at Harmony Oak for help with an addiction, we will work with them to come up with a custom plan to help them reach their goal of sobriety. Healing is a full-body process, and your treatment services will reflect this.

When you first arrive at our substance abuse treatment facility, you will first enter the detox program.

From there, you will work with one of our addiction treatment specialists to decide if inpatient or outpatient treatment is necessary. All of our treatment programs include mental health and counseling services.

Detox Services

The first step in our addiction treatment center is a medical detox

In detox, you can safely allow the toxic drugs and chemicals to leave your body. During this time, you will be closely monitored by healthcare workers to make sure you are doing okay.

Every person in our care who is going through detox receives around-the-clock care. We frequently check vital signs, such as blood pressure and heart rate. In some cases, a tapered detox is necessary, which means the amount of the drug taken is reduced slowly.

In other cases, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) helps people detox with fewer symptoms. It gives the body time to adjust slowly and safely. Medically supervised detox is one of the most important steps in recovering from a substance use disorder.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment with Summit at Harmony Oaks includes different levels of care.

Which outpatient treatment program is right for you depends on the severity of the substance use and how much assistance you will need. This is a great option for people who have completed inpatient or detox.

These programs are called step-down programs, meaning the level of intensity and care gradually decreases with each program.

Outpatient treatment includes:

  • Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)
  • Partial hospitalization programs (PHP)
  • General outpatient services.

Each program includes multiple sessions of individual and group therapy sessions and support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

When considering an outpatient program, it is important to make sure you have a safe home environment.

Residential Treatment

Residential or inpatient rehab is great for people who need extra help and care while recovering.

Our residential treatment programs offer very structured schedules for our patients. This has been shown to be helpful for people who are working to get to long-term recovery.

In Summit at Harmony Oak’s residential treatment programs in Tennessee, people can expect to receive physical and mental healthcare, help with behavioral health, and downtime. Most people stay in residential treatment for a few weeks to several months, depending on their needs.

Residential treatment requires patients to go to multiple therapy sessions a day. These sessions can be one-on-one or in groups. Summit at Harmony Oaks provides mental and physical care because complete recovery requires treating both the mind and the body.

Mental Health Treatment Programs

Treating a person’s mental health is critical when it comes to helping them reach sobriety. In most cases, a substance use disorder is only one of the issues facing someone. Often, someone who is dealing with addiction also has an underlying mental health disorder.

Many people use drugs and alcohol to treat their mental health pain. When we treat both the addiction and a mental health issue, it is called dual diagnosis treatment. This is one of the best ways to help people maintain sobriety.

Many different methods can be used to help, including different types of therapy, counseling, and medication.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Adventure Therapy (AT) are the most commonly used in our alcohol and drug rehab center.

Addiction & Mental Health Therapy Options in Tennessee

As research into alcohol and drug addiction continues, it has become clear that a person’s mental health is key to helping them recover.

Many people begin using alcohol and drugs to self-medicate mental health issues they already have. To treat the addiction, we must also treat the person’s mental health.

When someone has an alcohol or drug addiction and a mental health problem, they’re called a co-occurring disorder. Our two most successful forms of therapy at Summit at Harmony Oaks for co-occurring disorders are listed below.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most commonly used therapies. It claims that changing one’s thoughts can change one’s actions. CBT helps people manage their thoughts and behaviors more healthily and positively.

This type of therapy helps people understand how to cope with cravings and difficult situations. It gives them options and tools to use when they may once have turned to drugs or alcohol.

Trauma Informed Therapy

Trauma-informed therapy takes into account the traumatic events or situations in a person’s life that may have contributed to their addiction or mental health issues.

Our trauma therapy sessions can help you get to the root of your addiction, learn more about your triggers, and heal from what’s contributing to your need to self-medicate.

Adventure Therapy

Adventure therapy is a form of therapy that helps people learn to solve problems. It allows people to work through complex scenarios using their brains and skills. Adventure therapy can consist of rock climbing, whitewater rafting, hiking, skiing, and backpacking.

It helps people build their confidence in themselves while also teaching them to communicate and work as a team.

Behavioral Therapy

Summit at Harmony Oaks also offers a range of ‘talk’ therapies, also called psychotherapy or behavioral therapies.

In these sessions, you interact with a counselor to recognize and confront issues that are keeping you from recovering and to find healthy ways to address them in real time.

Forms of talk therapy offered at our Tennessee recovery center include:

  • Individual therapy that takes place one-on-one between you and a therapist
  • Group therapy, where you interact in a group of recovery peers offering support and encouragement
  • Family therapy that allows you and your family members to heal issues specific to your family

What Do Quality Tennessee Rehab Programs Look Like?

There are many options to choose from when it comes to finding a drug and alcohol rehab center in Tennessee.

The following factors can ensure you get the best possible treatment:

  • Certification and accreditation: Certifications and accreditations show that a center has undergone rigorous testing and passed. We have Joint Commission accreditation and LegitScript certification.
  • Tennessee state licensing: This means that the recovery center has complied with all regulations and standards of practice. We are licensed by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
  • Evidence-based treatment practices: Our methods for helping people reach sobriety are backed by science: cognitive behavioral therapy, adventure therapy, motivational interviewing, and more.
  • Licensed and trained medical staff: Our medical team members have undergone the certification and training required for addiction treatment.
  • Positive reviews and client testimonials: Another great factor in choosing a program is the happiness and satisfaction of previous clients.
